RNLAF Springfield Detachment Falcons

Springfield Detachtment Banner

Since April 2007 the Royal Netherlands Airforce has maintained a Training Detachment at the Springfield Air National Guard Base at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport (KSGH) in Clark County, Ohio. This unit operates RNLAF F-16AM and F-16BM’s which are periodically rotated back to The Netherlands.

The course last for six to eight months and trains pilots who before that had no experience on the F-16. Other trainings given are F-16 refresher courses, Exchange pilots conversion, Night Vision Goggle training, Target Pod training and Ops training. This arrangement serves to reduce the load on the crowded airspace in north western europe and also to reduce noise pollution by reducing the number of flights flown in the area.

Over the coming months I will try and add aircraft that have been rotated, so far I have a number of 306 Sqn marked aircraft, two single-seaters and one dual training aircraft. If you have additional photographs of aircraft wearing markings for the Springfield detachment I’d love to have them. I’d like to thank Remy Janssen for helping me out with some killer photographs so far.
